Becky in delicate 1930s peach lace wedding dress.

Dear Reader,
Say hello to Becky, dainty Vintage Bride of the Week...
For her August wedding, petite Becky chose a darling 1930s wedding dress in peach lace. The dress was so delicate and suited Becky to perfection.
In Becky's words...
"Thank you so much for the lovely fun afternoon we had at your studio trying on dresses. It was just how I wanted to find my wedding dress!
I loved gazing at the dress for ages before the day, and even more so wearing it on the day.  Thank you for helping me find my absolutely perfect dress!"
Congratulations and love to a dainty bride with a wonderful giant smile!

A Gypsy Vintage Wedding, Part 2.

Dear Reader,
Today I have more delicious Gypsy Wedding images, from the photo-shoot using my original vintage dresses...
After some research, the stylist / photographer team behind the shoot knew they needed an original Romany Gypsy wagon. It took some time to find the perfect one...
And luckily for them, they also found Walter - one of the most revered Gypsy Wagon Restorers. As well as loaning them this stunning black-and-gold caravan, Walter and his family guided them through all the details for the day. In Christian and Erica's words...
"Walter took us though to his barn, and it was an exciting moment to come face to face with what would become the centrepiece of our shoot - a gorgeous, original ‘Doors & Windows’ Romany caravan, hand-carved and covered in gold leaf.
We also took the opportunity to talk to Walter and his wife Mary about traditional gypsy weddings, and within minutes they’d found a fascinating old leather-bound album full of black and white family photos from gypsy weddings. And so we began to form a picture of what a REAL gypsy wedding would’ve looked like."
The results are lovely. So soft and romantic...

Thanks for stopping by,
Love

1970s tiered lace wedding dress: Gypsy-style Dress of the Week

Dear Reader,
Hot on the heels of those pretty gypsy images, this beautiful original 1970s wedding dress has to be our Vintage Wedding Dress of the Week...
Romantic 1970s lace wedding dress, £695 including full-length slip
This is such a romantic look, and a really rare find. With its complexion-flattering cream lace, and off-the-shoulder styling with delicate ribbon straps, it perfectly suits a boho vintage-gypsy-style wedding.
On- or off-the-shoulder? Both look stunning. 1970s wedding dress £695
It would look wonderful with a waist-enhancing sash trimmed in flowers. And as you can see above, it's equally fabulous worn on the shoulder for a bride who prefers a little more coverage. I'd love to see this dress accessorised with a flower crown, or perhaps with tumbling romantic tresses...
This gorgeous dress is available now, priced £695 including full-length slip.
See you next week, with some more lovely vintage gypsy ideas...

Gypsy Wedding, Vintage-style!

Dear Reader,
A little while ago I lent some of my original vintage wedding dresses for a photo shoot by Christian and Erica from Christian Ward Photography.
Their idea was to recreate a vintage gypsy wedding. Not the 'big fat gypsy wedding' kind, but something soft and romantic from days gone by - based on real Romany traditions and recommendations from real-life travellers...
The results are beautiful and inspiring...
If you'd like to see more, there's a full feature on rockmywedding and I'll be showing more of their lovely images next week.

Thanks for dropping by, heavenlies.

Annie dances in 1940s AND 1950s wedding dresses!

Dear Reader,
You may remember me showing this gorgeous original 1940s vintage wedding dress...
Well today, I have a treat to share - the pictures of lovely dancer Annie wearing it. And wearing a beautiful 1950s wedding dress too!
Annie described the pleasure of finding her perfect dress... sorry, dresses! (nobody says you're only allowed one!)
"I had tried on various dresses in some lovely boutiques, but it was when I visited Helena at Heavenly Vintage Brides that I knew vintage was the way for me.
There was something very special about finding a vintage dress that hardly needed any alteration, I liked to think back to the dress’ first owner and wonder about them, if they were at all like me.
So when a white lace 40s dress fitted me almost perfectly, I had my ‘it’s the one’ moment. I also fell in love with a 1952 buttermilk dress Helena had dubbed her Betty Draper. And with two wedding days it was clear I needed two dresses!
The fact that the two vintage dresses came to less than one modern boutique dress was all the additional persuasion needed."
The wedding took place in the wonderful surroundings of Annie's parents' Buckinghamshire garden, (with an intimate event at The Compleat Angler in Marlow on the day before). Annie's parents even built a romantic summer house specially!
And as you'd expect at a dancer's wedding, they certainly knew how to cut a rug. No Dad-dancing allowed...
Scotsman Dickie was no sartorial slouch himself. Here he is, looking very dapper in a Douglas family tartan kilt...
Happy days! If you'd like to see more of dancer Annie's wonderful wedding, check out her post on Rock My Wedding, here.
