The prettiest wedding flowers and cakes, at 'Brides The Show'.

Dear Reader,
Last week I had the pleasure of attending Conde Nast's Brides The Show in Islington. If you've never been, it's a fun evening or day out with gorgeous wedding flowers, fabulous cakes and so many pretty things to enjoy.

My companions were two lovely ladies who are also both bridal experts: Sally Laycock, designer of beautiful Edwardian style dresses, and Abby of Cherished, who hand-makes wonderful bridal accessories.

We really enjoyed seeing familiar faces and admiring the high standard of work. But what most impressed was the quality of the flowers. All the florist stands were a joy to behold! I do love flowers, so I'd like to show you my favourites...

First, I admired the bright and bold contemporary styling of Hackney-based florists Rebel Rebel (photo above, and below)..
The Rebel Rebel girls were so nice and chatty. And I have never seen roses as large and beautiful as the amazing purple blooms on their stand...
In a complete contrast, Richmond florist Zita Elze's stand almost gave me goosebumps! Zita's display was so beautiful and ethereal, like a fairytale glade of trees filled with gypsophilla.

Zita's style is very unique - I haven't seen flowers arranged quite this way before...
I also loved the approach to wedding cakes taken by two ladies in partnership, Fondant Fox and Meringue Girls. Together, they combine delightful quirky colourful meringues with gorgeous cakes. The results are really different and delicious.
I particularly loved their towering sponge cake, covered in the prettiest flowers and meringues...
There were so many wonderful cakes and flowers and fun weddingy things to admire. I hope you enjoyed seeing my own personal favourites!

Vintage lace wedding dresses - featuring gorgeous Felicity!

Dear Reader,
As our Bride of the Week is Felicity, I thought we'd take a minute to look again at the beautiful lace she is wearing...
For this 1930s inspired Butterfly dress from my Heavenly Collection, we use a family firm of lacemakers in Nottingham. They have been producing some of the world's finest lace for over five generations...!
Elegant 1930s shoppers look at my exclusive lace!
When I was sourcing the lace for my vintage-style wedding dresses, I looked at ateliers worldwide. It was so exciting to find this wonderful Nottingham company and see their original pattern books - the equal of any couture atelier in France or Italy. (After all, Nottingham was the heart of the world's lace industry for 150 years.)
We agreed on an exclusive license to produce this stunning quality lace from the 1930s, for my Heavenly Collection dresses. (I was thrilled to find the photo of two elegant 1930s shoppers looking at the exact same lace, recently.)
The lace they make is elegant, strong and drapes beautifully - as you can clearly see in these pictures of gorgeous Felicity who looks so fabulous in it!

Felicity in BUTTERFLY 1930s-style lace wedding dress... Our Bride of the Week.

Dear Reader,
Big congratulations today to lovely Felicity, my newest Real Vintage Bride...
For her recent wedding to Luke, Felicity chose Butterfly, a 1930s-style wedding dress from my Heavenly Collection...
Butterfly is based on an original 1930s lace wedding dress. With its mermaid skirt, and waterfall frill at the neck it is wonderfully dreamy. Felicity looks fabulous in the dress - so glamorous and romantic. And in her words...
"The dress was AMAZING!!! Thank you so much, the day went so well and I felt wonderful in the dress."
It's my pleasure, Felicity! You are definitely our Heavenly Vintage Bride of the Week. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your perfect day.
And thank you, dear Reader, for stopping by on this wet Autumn day. I hope the sun is shining wherever you are! See you again very soon...

Vintage Bride of the Week: Stunning Selina in 1940s 'Bette' Wedding Dress

Dear Reader,
Bride of the week is Selina, stunning in 1940s wedding dress Bette from my Heavenly Collection.
Selina has a wonderful figure. And the Bette dress with its lower back suited her so beautifully...
Groom Joe agreed completely. In Selina's words...
"The day was amazing and everything was perfect from start to finish. Joe loved the dress as did the guests and I felt gorgeous in it. I had a lot of comments and questions about who made it.
Thank you so much - I hope you're busy making lots of brides as happy as you made me!"
It was a joy to work with Selina - a privilege to dress such a delightful girl. Lucky Joe!
And of course, lucky me! I do love my job and I am very proud of all my Brides. Huge congratulations to Selina and Joe!

Vintage Bride of the Week: Stephanie in 1960s lace and chiffon wedding dress.

Dear Reader,
There's an Autumn nip in the air today. So I'm going to share these gorgeous pics from real vintage bride Stephanie...
Stephanie married last Winter in the idyllic setting of Bloomington, Indiana.
Stephanie is such a delightful girl and I was really pleased to meet her charming parents, Steve and Jane, who flew over from Canada to help choose the dress.
With their help, Stephanie chose this stunning original early 1960s wedding dress in lace and chiffon - so glamorous! And I love her swishy 1960s hairstyle that works so well with it. (For more great 1960s hair ideas, click here.)

Stephanie certainly made the right choice...
"The dress was amazing, absolutely beautiful and all I could have hoped for! I received so many compliments, and people said it was one of the most stunning gowns they'd ever seen. Thank you for all of your hard work, and for helping to make my big day so special.
Marriage has been a treat, and we think fondly back to December 14th often. It went by so fast, but it was such a memorable day nonetheless. Thank you again, Helena!"

Thanks so much for sharing the pics, Stephanie and Brian. We love your snow-kissed 1960s style!

And thanks to USA photographer Eric Rudd for the pictures - you can see lots more of this gorgeous wedding on his blog here.
