Hannah in 1930s style wedding dress 'Violette' – Vintage Bride of the Week.

Dear Reader,
Today's vintage bride is Hannah, who chose 1930s style Violette wedding dress from my Heavenly Collection for her Spring wedding.
Hannah was delightful to work with, and together we agreed a few variations to this beautiful silk satin wedding dress: satin ‘petal’ sleeves, subtle champagne beading on the shoulders, and a French lace panel in the back.
It was well worth taking the time to get it right. Lovely Hannah looked gorgeous in the final dress – very glamorous, and softly pretty at the same time.
Clearly everyone agreed! In Hannah's words,
"A huge thank you for creating my amazing dress. I felt absolutely fabulous on the day – and I cannot tell you how many compliments I (but mostly the dress) got!"
Now let's just enjoy seeing beautiful Hannah and her lovely dress in action…!

Thanks for stopping by, reader. If you have a moment to enjoy more lovely Vintage Brides, why not click here...

Wishing you a wonderful weekend...

Real Vintage Bride Susan in 1930s-style wedding dress, 'Violette'.

Dear Reader,
Inspired by this burst of early Spring sunshine, I've chosen a seaside summer wedding for our Real Vintage Bride of the week...
1930s-inspired silk satin wedding dress Violette from my Heavenly Collection
For her wedding to Matt last year, gorgeous bride Susan chose to wear Violette in silk satin, from my Heavenly Collection of vintage-inspired wedding dresses.
Fabulosity vintage-style, on the Beach!
Ahh, summer days! Here's what Susan had to say about it…

"It was a beautiful day and I felt amazing in the dress, it was definitely the right choice. I got so many compliments on it all day too – a big success!"

Glorious. Roll on summer.

My Vintage Wedding Dress of the Week, Violette - a 1930s beauty.

Dear Reader,

Have I mentioned that the 1930s is one of my very favourite eras for vintage wedding dresses? ...Oh, only about a hundred times, probably!

Well, this week I've chosen another gorgeous 1930s-inspired gown to be my Dress of the Week: Violette, from my Heavenly Collection.
Handmade in sensuous silk satin, with french lace or satin sleeves, Violette is a glamorous new take on a classic 1930s design - remodelled to flatter a modern figure.
You can see more of Violette here, together with more 1930s-style wedding dresses in my Heavenly Collection.

And if - like me - you love these slinky 30s numbers too, then don't forget to check out my Guide to 1930s Vintage Wedding Dresses, with lots of lovely photos of original dresses to enjoy.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sun!

Meet the new Violette - my 1930s style wedding dress with lace features!

Dear Reader

As promised, I have something new to reveal today: I am very excited to introduce the new Violette.
This lovely dress is a new variation on my Violette 1930s-style dress, that you may know already from my Heavenly Collection...
For the new Violette, I have added a delicate French lace cap sleeve - always so popular with my clients. The new dress also features an elegant lace panel at the back (cleverly positioned just above the bra-line), to perfectly complement the art deco feel and construction of this lovely gown, with its gorgeous seam details that sculpt the body.

Violette was recreated from an original 1930s dress with a few style modifications. For me, the exciting thing about copying the vintage dresses is that it allows me to discreetly update a few features - like lowering a neckline slightly - without losing the feel of the original dress.
In this case, the original dress belonged to a young lady called Gladys Violette who was married in 1932. I love knowing the history of my dresses, and even have her original wedding invitation!
All the patterns for my vintage-inspired dressed have been created by carefully deconstructing original dresses which were absolutely beautiful, but too tired to be worn again. Each is then carefully recreated, with design modifications to suit the modern figures. It's a very difficult process, and each one takes many attempts to get it perfect Fortunately I have a wonderful team of highly-skilled pattern cutters who make it possible!

This lovely version of the Violette dress is available now, in a wide range of sizes, and priced at £1495. I do hope you love it, and thanks for sharing my news today! Do contact me if you'd like to see more.

Dear Reader,

I have so much to tell you. I hope you'll forgive my absence these last few months... I've been busy, busy, busy! Choosing, restoring, and designing the most beautiful vintage-inspired wedding dresses - based on gorgeous original vintage bridal gowns from the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

But now it's time to turn over a new (Autumn) leaf: I promise to post every week! New dresses, new ideas, and so much to share with you. I do hope you will join me.

To begin, I'd like to show you the full 'Heavenly Collection' so far. Eight gorgeous new wedding gowns, all closely modelled on the prettiest, most elegant and most timeless original vintage wedding dresses.

Each of these gowns can be personalised with a range of carefully chosen options in sizes, skirt lengths, sleeve lengths, colour of dress and underskirt, and fabric - making your dress unique to you, and perfect for your special day.

Whether it's scarily soon, or still a distant dream, take a moment to enjoy picturing yourself on your Heavenly day...

Love,

BUTTERFLY
A romantic dreamy dress made using stunning Nottingham lace, it has a soft mermaid shaped skirt, and a waterfall frill on the neckline. This dress was copied from a 1930s lace wedding dress, and the elegant proportions have been kept exactly the same.

STARLIGHT
This elegant gown is also modelled from a classic 1930s dress, and has a sensual 'Movie Star' feel. It has a  very low cut back with cross over straps, and fine pleating under the bust. It is handmade in flattering drapey silk satin with a wonderful texture.

VIOLETTE
A beautiful sophisticated style, based on a 1930s original, this time with a slightly updated neckline and a sweet petal-shaped sleeve.

The beautiful Art Deco seam patterns make this very special, and the bias cut heavy silk satin gives a 'slinky' feel. The skirt ends in small train.

BETTE
Inspired by the glamorous stars of the 1940s, this dress is based on a gorgeous evening gown. It is very well cut, and is a really figure-flattering dress. The silk crepe fabric has a lovely heavy drapey quality, and the soft pleats on the upper section of the skirt create a small peplum effect. It has a subtle cowl neck at the front and a low back  with sparkling ivory and silver beaded trim. A small belt - sparkly or simple - completes the look.

BLANCHE
Based on a perfectly proportioned 1950s dress, a sweet flirty shape in gorgeous French lace, with a pretty sweetheart bodice. The dress has  a boat neck, low back  and flattering short sleeves. This lovely shape flatters most body types.

CHANTILLY
This super-pretty dress is based on a classic 1950s shape. The lovely swishy skirt is made in a really special Italian silk organza, and comes in a range of lengths. The bodice is made from fine french Chantilly lace with a contrasting mocha lining for a pretty vintage colourway.

STELLA
A classic chic 1960s style, which  flatters many body shapes. STELLA has a boat neck and low back, with a French lace overlay and a neat ribbon bow on the waist.

AUDREY
A beautifully shaped, neat cover-up, AUDREY works particularly well with STARLIGHT and BUTTERFLY.

The fabric is embroidered silk organdie - made in England by a family firm who have been lace-makers for three generations. The jacket hem is edged with a vintage-style beaded leaf trim.
